Root GParted Help!

Okay, so I've done a nandroid backup using CWM and backed up onto my laptop, I'm on my Windows based laptop, I've burned the GPLive image to CD, and have the GParted tar.bz2 file in My Documents, I have my SD Card in my card reader waiting to be formatted and partitioned, my question now is "What the hell do I do?" I'm really stuck on how to proceed and when I look at the Gparted "manual" it confuses me even more.

Guide for a dummy please?

Well, fell at the first hurdle!!!

Booted up from the CD ROM and all I got was a psychedelic chequerboard screen with flashing characters and icons.

Was I supposed to burn the GParted.tar.bz2 file instead of the gpartedlive.iso, though I'm guessing I burned the right one?

Any techy minded people know what might have gone wrong here? It appeared to burn ok. I jut used a program to Burn the .iso image to CD. Did I have to do anything else to the .iso before burning?

You call also try changing the speed of burning if the software allows you. Slow burn speeds are more consistent.

Sounds more like a video driver issue. Linux is quite well known for not playing nicely with some video cards - is yours an ATI (Radeon etc) by any chance?

Do you get the initial scrolling text screens whilst it is booting - asking what language / keyboard etc to use? If so, you could try and do it from the command line.

Post back here if you need help doing this - it really shouldn't be hard, especially if you've backed up all your data, then you just need to clear all partitions and make two new ones, as opposed to shrinking the FAT32 one, which is dodgy anyway, IMHO.
