Root GPS and Charging glitch.

The last couple of weeks my GPS in Google maps and Google Nav was loosing its signal. It would go into a "Searching for GPS" and just stay there.
I have my EVO mounted on the dash in a Pro Clip fixed charging mount.
When it would loose the GPS signal I would exit Nav or Maps and then power off and do a battery pull and then reboot it. This would make it work for a bit and then it would do it again. Sometimes it would do it as soon as I started Nav, sometimes it wouldn't do it for about an hour.

I discovered something this past week. It started doing it the other day and I started getting aggravated, so instead of exiting Nav, I just took it out of the charger to do a battery pull and bam, the GPS signal came back.
Huhhh? Put it back in the charger, GPS signal went out. Did it several times to confirm. Waited for full battery charge and then ran NAV, it works fine for a while in the charger till the battery starts charging again.

Whenever it is charging is when the GPS looses signal. When it looses its signal I can slide it up out of the charger and the GPS signal comes back and works fine. but about 1 minute after I push it back down into the charger, the GPS signal goes out. And it does this without fail every time. So now I have to slide EVO out of the charger when I want to use Nav or Maps.

This problem only started about 2 weeks ago. Before that everything worked perfectly for 3 months.
Anyone got an idea how to fix this problem?

I am rooted and haven't done any updates on my phone. I did download an app and uninstall it along with updating a few apps. But nothing that coincides with when the problem started. I have removed the app updates but still have the problem.

I have tried ##clrgps# and it doesn't help either.

Are you using a cheap aftermarket car charger? I noticed the other day that with my cheapie charger plugged in, I lose 3g signal and only have 1x. Unplugged goes right back to 3g.

Ok so cheap charger may be sort of a answer, but an even better would be a reason why docking to a cheap dock affects your signal at all? There isnt anywhere in the dock settings that says like turn off data while docked, i really dont see a reason for it. Interesting issue....do the other radios function? wimax? signal? Just kills 3g data alone?

I did not test it to much of an extent. I have no 4g so wimax is a ?. I could send and receive texts along with phone calls with no issue. I have used GPS with it plugged in previously but not since I noticed the Data Signal change. I did try and download something and the speed was noticably different so I don't think it is just a false reading.

I have the same exact issue. I have however, a new bigger battery and the phone lid (back cover) to suit the big battery. The GPS works fine on battey, but the signal drops when charger is applied. The GPS antenna is at the phone lid. Maybe the charger somehow disconnects the antenna or it could be the new battery. I have to do some tests with the original battery and the new lid. Phone= HTC Incredible S
