So, get this ish. I was always under the impression that the internal GPS antenna was not working on any non-stock rom. However, as of a few days ago I embarked on a 2000mi road trip to move out to Arizona. When I started, I decided to get directions via Maps and then use Navigation to get me there. After about three minutes I heard my first set of directions and to my great surprise had an accurate GPS signal! When I say accurate, I don't mean it was accurate to within 2000 meters or whatever, I could watch my car pass by streets as they came by.
Well, everything was going according to plan, up until then next day. I unplugged my phone from the car charger, which was a USB cable plugged into a power inverter, which has never been an issue, and it showed I was still charging. I rebooted the phone, still showed it. I pulled the battery, wont boot. Got into recovery and cleared the battery stats, now it boots, but still shows its charging. Every now and then it will show its not charging but then goes back, so I have an inaccurate idea of how charged my phone is. I left it plugged in all night to make sure it would make it to 100% and without really using it for anything much except Facebook once when we stopped and it still died within 12 hours. When it gets low it starts bouncing between charging and not charging, which can get very irritating.
My suspicion is that between running at 900Mhz as well as using GPS and running it off the charger it was burning more battery than it could charge and shorted out the battery.
Thoughts or ideas as to how I might fix this? I am prepared to buy a new battery, but not ready to get a new phone just yet, lol
