Help GPS Backlight

how do i keep the backlight on while i'm driving and using my GPS?

do i have to go to the settings and set backlight to "never off" everytime i wanna use my GPS?

currently my screen timeout is set to 30seconds. so i have to unlock my phone every 30 seconds of the journey, which is pretty dumb.

thank you.

What SatNav program are you using. Google Nav prevents the phone from sleeping.

You can install this widget to switch the timeout on and off. Use it befaore launching your app then the screen will stay on.

what do u mean "Google Nav" prevents the phone from sleeping?

i am using google maps when i'm driving.. it turns the screen black into standby after 30 seconds.. other than changing the settings or the widget.. how can i disable screen off?

You could try the free app 'Screebl'. It prevents the screen from turning off when the phone is held in an upright position.

It's pretty handy actually, I just turn my screen off time to minimum and rely on screebl all the time.

The turn by turn 3D map within google maps. Looking at the 'normal' google map, yes the screen will time out. Using the satnav (Navigate To) feature of google maps, prevents the timeout. Once you have used it then it gets its own icon in the app drawer called Navigation so you can go straight into it without going into google maps first.
