GPS batt drain even when plugged in

Ok, so i've noticed since i've gotten my phone that even when its plugged in (100 percent battery to start) if I use navigation for 45 min or so the battery will drain to around 80 percent. I don't understand how its doing this if its plugged in and the battery has the charging icon on there. Is this normal?

Short answer, yes.
Your device is drawing more then the 200-300mA that the charger is supplying.

Yep. I noticed this yesterday wile driving through Denver (just got back from Winter Park, Colorado! Snowboarding FTW!) However if you have a power inverter (mine is 150W I used it to play xbox 360 on the road) it stays at 100%

well is there anything I can do to stop that? is there a better charger that I could use, or something like that? If I'm going on a 10 hour trip, my battery will be dead before I get halfway there.

Thanks, I may have to try that, but I'd like to just use a car charger if possible.

Go to radio shack and buy a power inverter. This is the one I got for $40.

Then just plug in your regular wall charger to it.

Thanks ttaylor0024, I think thats the direction I'm going to go in. There's some on the best buy website for that price that are a little smaller (need to be small so it doesn't get in the way when I'm shifting gears.)
