GPS Fix 9/18/2010 Over the Air

I think we should go back to the old ways and start sacrificing Tmobile employees to the god of Samsung so that he me see favor on us and give us good crops and a phone that works.

Are there any active volcanoes nearby?

Tmo/Samsung is waiting until the next planetary alignment to release Froyo, as all of the work into polishing the update would be wasted if the world does in fact end. This time can instead better be spent, while waiting for the alignment, on browsing Thinkgeek while watching Redtube and eating lots of pizza delivery.

T-Mo has always been on the short bus when it comes to device updates. They usually release them after everybody else, which is actually a smart move. How many support calls do you think AT&T is getting about that OTA update that's not working well? Why do you think T-Mo consistently gets the best customer service rankings? They let other companies do the testing for them, and then release a quality update. That's one thing about T-Mo, their updates are pretty much always top notch. I'd rather wait an extra month or two than have to deal with more glitches.

I was actually chating with a friend at work about this on Friday and he said the reason that att got the update first is that because att is the largest mobile phone company (as well as all the other stuff they do) and push around Samsung to release to them first. Version i read somewhere was also getting updates. T-mobile being small in comparison does not have the "push" to get updates as fast.

I have to disagree, as a prior Blackberry owner yourself you should know that T-Mobile has dropped support for blackberry many times, while At&t continues to always release new blackberry os updates. It is one thing to delay updates and claim that you want another carrier to crash test it first, thats fine, but the problem with t-mobile is they completely drop support and decide that you no longer need os updates. Leaving the consumer and blackberry owner installing At&t OS or another carriers bb os on their t-mo device.

I guarantee, At&t, Sprint and Verizon will release Android 3.0, T-Mo will conveniently decide for us that we don't need it, and will never provide it. I guess this is were devs come into play.

When I had my BB I never had any problems getting updates. I only had it for about 7 months and in that time T-Mobile released 2 updates for that specific device. I'd say that is pretty dang good! I also got timely updates on my Sidekicks, too. One was pretty major and included video recording and playback, on a device that didn't originally have it! There were lots of other goodies packed into that update, too. I have faith that T-Mobile will give us our updates when they are ready.

The lack of any information here is a real bad sign.

Doesn't seem like the GPS fix is even around the corner and there's no talk of 2.2 being in this fix so who knows when 2.2 might be coming (this year even?).

Hopefully, T-Mobile or Samsung will officially break the silence soon.

Yeah...it's darn well about time! October is just around the corner and we haven't seen anything confirmed.
