At least for me it did.
/me does a happy dance!
I have tested this on the 2 roms I had trouble with earlier on and this fix has worked on both roms now and GPS lock on works fine.
It's a kind of 2 part deal, (sorta) ones a fix for the gps, and the other is a work around to get it to work after a shutdown and/or reboot.
NOTE: This is assuming you know how to install a rom and know the ins and outs of that part of it
Method 1:
Before you flash over to a rom, on the rom your currently on, get a gps lock, make sure it is actually locked on, and use either maps or gps status app (in the market) and get the gps to lock onto your position.
Once you have locked onto your position, reboot your phone into recovery, in my case I did cwm recovery, wipe dalvik, wipe cache, install the rom of your choice, reboot to system.
As soon as you are into your new system, go to settings in location, and make sure you have "GPS SOURCE" checked as "use internal gps".
After you have that set, now toggle GPS on/off/on/off 2-3 times, waiting a couple of seconds in between toggles. Not sure why this works but it does, otherwise it will not get a lock. You will need to do toggle (just not the settings, that part is a one time deal) but you will need to toggle this after each reboot/restart.
Once that is done install the app GPS Status, and/or maps, (I recommend installing gapps), but use either one or both as I do to get a lock on your position.
It should lock on like normal, like it did before on stock.
I have fussed and messed with this gps issue for about 2 weeks, many many hours and numerous nights without sleep, with reboots installs of roms, wipeing cache and dalvick, trying different things.
Method 2:
This way is if you already have a rom installed and want to fix the gps without having to redo your rom.
I found this link and followed it and it works great.
Cyanogenmod Epic Touch: Temporary Stock E4GT from emmc
I have done both methods and have found both work good.
I sure hope this helps someone out, as I know this gps issue was VERY frustrating for me, so maybe I can help someone out so they aren't as frustrated as I was
.
Almost forgot one more important step.
To get maps to work correctly:
Turn on GPS. Go into settings, down where it says google (you may or may not have a google logo the G) it's down by accounts. Click that and in there there is some location settings, go to the one that says "location settings", in there you will see it says somthing like "Let Google Apps access your location" and it will have a sider that says off, slide it oer to on, and exit out, and your maps should now work good. This should only be a one step thing, once it's set you won't have to mess with it, until you switch roms again. I guess that would go for ALL of this, once you switch roms you will have to redo this stuff again.
I hope this all made sense, as I may be typing to fast because I am SO very happy right now lol
