Help GPS gone wild

OK, I am a runner and use the Runkeeper app with GPS to keep track of my distance. I run to work every morning about a mile and greater distances on the weekends. Been using it for about 3 weeks and it's been reasonably accurate until 2 days ago. I used it on the walk home and it said I had walked 123 miles at 103 miles per hour! Today the one mile walk home became 2.5. Anybody got a clue what's going on?

I use GPS all the time while road cycling. I would remove that program ,(or force kill) and then load GPS Test and My Tracks from the market. Run GPS Test, hit back to get to the home screen and then run My Tracks. Take a quick run around your neighborhood and see what you get. Open GPS Test and make sure you have at least 6 sats showing and a reasonable accuracy reading. If all looks correct ( I'd test several times), then it is not the hardware but could be something wrong in the app programming that is random and needs to be corrected for optimum performance on the optimus v (contact developer for his/her input). If you can't get 6 sats IN THE OPEN OUTSIDE and your accuracy is something crazy like 90 or 100 ft then it could be a hardware issue.

I personally use My Tracks exclusively as for me it has the least error of other exercise trackers on the optimus v. I get an accuracy of 20-40 ft and 6-10 sats IN THE OPEN. Let GPS Test run a minute or two as it will fluctuate as it is taking readings.

For reference, the Samsung Moment I had, had a known GPS issue and would show only 3-4 sats and an accuracy of 90-200 ft on its bad days. But at least with the old Samsung, I'd run GPS Test as did some other owners and it would correct the GPS performance for awhile. Not really sure how/why.
