Help GPS issues after google maps update

I updated google maps via an update though the Market.

Since Monday my GPS has not been able to lock on. All I see is "searching for GPS".

I tried uninstalling the update but it didnt help.

I also moved around and tried google maps in 4 different areas, and still no GPS signal.

The GPS was working perfectly before the update

update

after a few days of trying to get the update to uninstall, I was finally successful.

I dont know if its just my phone and other apps not liking the update or if it has something to do with the phone and its hardware.

So if you are having the same problem, uninstall google maps

Update #2
GPS has stopped working again. I reinstalled the update thinking it might help.
Nope.
Same problem.
I don't know what to do.

update #3

I dont know if anyone is following this or if im just talking to myself.

I unmounted the SD card from the phone and then removed the SD card completely.
I read that that may help.
Well so far so good.
GPS locks on within 5 seconds and usually has 5-7 sats , had 11 once

I'm having this problem too. I downloaded Waze to try and use and it never would show it connected to GPS and neither will Google Maps. Same problem as you. What process did you use to unmount your SD card? I haven't used a phone with a SD card in a couple years so excuse that noobish question lol

After you restart your phone, it may take up to 10 minutes to 'lock' on to a satellite. Not sure how long you're waiting, but maybe just a little longer?

What app are you using to see satellite connection?

I was using GPS Status and Toolbox. I figured out the phone was rooted when I bought it second hand so I flashed the LeeDroid ROM to it and everything is fine with it now.
