GPS issues

I'm currently running GV 1.8, but I've had the same problem with different roms and Kernels.

I can't get a GPS lock. I've tried some apps (GPS Fix, GPS Test), but neither have fixed the issue. It keeps searching for a GPS signal. it's been loading for over an hour now and my friends Nokia C5-03 locked after 20 seconds.

Sometimes it does lock, but it always takes at least 10 minutes.

Any help?

I'm also on GV 1.8, but using the default kernel. GPS lock depends on the location - if you already had a fix in one place, then it should take like 10sec to get a fix again. In the new locations if should not take more than 1-2m.
Have you got the data connectivity ON?
I would reboot the phone, enable data then GPS then try again with GPS Test.
