Root GPS/Navigation Problems

Is screen timeout the same as sleep? I've set that to the highest value (30 mins), there isn't an option for never.. See what happens this morning :-)

With screen timeout set to 30 mins, same problem. Lasted about a minute or two until the navigation app reported it had lost GPS signal. Ran GPS Status for 10 mins or so and then restarted navigation, same problem. Toggled GPS on/off and it was fine for the rest of the journey.

Will try the gps.conf from my wife's phone later and see of that helps, although I'm not holding my breath. Looks like the toggle GPS is the way to go here..

Last roll of the dice this morning. Tried the gps.conf file copied from my wife's Desire S but it made no difference. Looks like I'm stuck with the workaround for toggling GPS on and off.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Sense has a never turn off screen option, and some ROM's have a quick settings shortcut.

Sense = 1, AOKP = 0

Just saying.

I realize that I have double this in 2 threads but, as I never actually found the info and got round to posting it, it makes sense for me to post this here too, as it is relevant to this thread!! :)

For anyone not in the UK, it is worth noting that this part:

NTP_SERVER=uk.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.uk.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.uk.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.uk.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.uk.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.europe.pool.ntp.org

is location specific and would need changing, based on where in the world you are. Just trying to locate the thread that I originally got this info from and will put a link :)

Found the thread I was referring to on XDA... HERE is a link to it... you will be able to get a better understanding of what I have been talking about (gps.conf files, etc.) from there :D
