Well I HOPE its a non-noob question. I've read and looked at every single video I can get my hands on on this device! IM so excited. But my question is about the GPS.. I want to know if the gps/nav will work even if there is no data coverage. I really would like to know this. Like lets say you are in the woods and you have no coverage, but the GPS still works? What are you thoughts?
 
The gps on my iPhone works even if I don't have coverage. It just won't load the map. However I think i read that the maps on the inspire are preloaded so that may not be an issue.
 
Really? I dint know this. Yea I saw the whole preloaded map deal. So if gps works without network coverage that would be rather awesome.. thx
 
Or you can buy Navigon and have the whole US preloaded at all times. Although it's expensive ($60) compared to the iPhone version.
 
I have Navigon on my iPhone, it's an awesome gps app and completely replaces the need for a standalone gps. The few times I've used google maps on android for nav, I didn't think it was quite as good, but still usable.
