Help GPS not working... ??

Hi,

I have a P990, this is my first Android phone i am verry pleased with it, im still learnig how to use it to the fullest and i must say, i dont know why i dident have android phone before.

Any way to the question, i dont seem to be able to use the GPS function on my phone, i can accses the apps such as google maps etc. but when i turn on the GPS on my phone it dosent seem to be able to connect to any sat's ..

do i need to change something or do a manual setup, and how do i do this..

My phone is runing on

Android ver. 2.2.2
Baseband ver. 1035.21_2010405
Kernel ver. 2.6.32.9
LGE ver. LGP990-V10b

my wife has an Iphone4 and the GPS function there works just fine.. so i know its not because of the location..

Try GPS status from the Market, it will give you a better idea of what's going on.

thnx for helping me.

Ive tryed the program you sugested, and i seems i cant get a lock on any sat's or find any for that sake, ive looked at at other forums regarding this problem and it seems like im not the only one.. some writes that the solution to this problem is to root the phone and install a gpsconfig.* file.. now since im new to android im not sure this is a good option for me.. i dont know how to root a phone and im affraid i might break it.. do you know if there is any other solution to my problem without rooting my phone ?
