Help GPS Problem

Sorry if this has been asked before.
My GPS takes a long time to get a lock and then only if I use the GPS status App.
I have wiped my Phone several times but this doesn't help
Sometimes it sees satellites and wont lock and sometimes no satellites at all.
I have looked everywhere on the net but cannot find an answer.
Please help.
