Help GPS problems

I bought the Epic 4G when it barely came out and I had it activated for almost a year, and one thing that I always noticed is that the GPS signal was almost always inaccurate, then I got it replaced with another phone. I'm handing this down to my brother and it's got the latest update which means that I just got reactivated. Does anyone know if the GPS signal issues have been fixed or not? I installed wavesecure, but it's not finding the location of the phone and I don't think there's an issue with wavesecure because it's working on my other phones. I also turned on the weather widget that comes with it and it's say that the location is not available and the GPS option is turned on my phone as well. Is there a way to fix this?

I am on stock el30 and GPS is still pretty crappy. There is a nice thread in Epic 4G - Tips and Tricks - Android Forums on how to make it better, but I am no longer going thru 18-step processes to fix my phone. (note: I tried the "simple trick" but it did not work for me)
