Help GPS question??

So I'm pretty into geocaching right now and refuse to go and buy a GPS device, and have found many using my phone. Anyway I want to hide one now and want to make sure my coordinates are accurate, and on their forum...someone mentioned this to me:

"Using a phone with a true GPS is OK. Using a phone that is simply triangulating cell towers is not OK."


So my question is...does our phone have a true GPS or is it triangulating through cell towers? I'm assuming we have a true GPS but I just want to make sure.

Yes, the Shift has real GPS as long as it is turned on. When off, it attempts to locate by using cell towers. There are a bunch of Apps that will show GPS signal status, you can use to compare accuracy.
