Help GPS refuses to work!

[themetroid1]

Hey there,

My dad has an LG Vortex. I have the Droid X.

Google Maps/Bing/whatever uses the GPS works flawlessly on my Droid X and I know my way around them.

I was trying to teach my dad how to use Navigation in Google Maps. I had the GPS enabled but it refused to find my location. Don't tell me to fix any of the settings because I'm POSITIVE it was all ok. I tried it in Bing a few days later and it would not work there either. I tried removing and re-installing Google Maps to no avail.

Is there a problem with the phone or is there anything else I can try?

Try enabling "Use wireless networks" and "Use GPS satellites" both. It should get you some kind of fix on a position even if its not true GPS.

Try installing this free app also and see what results you get.
GPS Status & Toolbox

I know the GPS was wonky until I flashed a new ROM on my device might be the same with that LG.
