Help GPS Stopped Working

Tues. (16th) I used the phone to navigate me around town. Worked perfectly. That night I got home and 4G was switched on and GPS would no longer lock at the house. Using the GPS Fix/Test/Status apps I can get 1 sometimes 2 satellites but never 3+ to find my location.

I tried the airplane mode steps above, but didn't do it for me.

hey guys . . im a tech at verizon and the issue is Indeed a problem with google. .installed vznav on the phone and its able to be located and gps works fine with vznav app. of course there is no ETA for the issue ..

Anybody else smell shill? VZW would like nothing more than to have me pay for services which I never, and should never need to pay for.

We are in Western NY (ELLICOTTVILLE SOUTH OF BUFFALO)
In talking to friends I have came up with
8 DroidX
2 Droid Incredible
1 Droid2 Global
1 Droid Eris

Nobody has NAV working that I know of on Google MAPS/ NAV on Verizon

I talked to Verizon they said they are aware of the problem but denied responsibility as it is a "third party app" nevermind it came on my phone how about you? :C) oh well that is a loosing battle. I trust either it is Verizon being Verizon and they wacked it to get people to use VZNAV or Google really did break it and they will probably fix it soon. It is interesting that it was only a day ot two before before this problem started that I saw the news that Google bought Motorola Mobile...

GOOGLE PAY ATTENTION AND FIX THIS ASAP, THANKS - KEVIN

Looks like it might be back to working again in Apalachin, NY. Was driving around (was going to check to see if it worked in PA), when it just started working about 7 PM in Vestal. Worked all the way back to home, rebooted two phones a couple of times, always managed to acquire a fix.

Hopefully it will continue to work and Verizon will learn their lesson.

Just checked my Droid incredible and I appears to be working again
Went to the gps test app and it is showing 11 satellites in view and 11 in use earlier it was 0

you guys that are having issues are in 3g phones, . . why would the activation of 4g effect your gps? I have a thunderbolt . .and no gps issues at all.. . it is an upstate ny issue but people in rochester are experiencing it just recently and 4g has been on their for a year now. . .All I can tell you is Yes their is an issue . . and I really honestly dont think its vzw related

I am late to the party, but had all the problems already mentioned. It appeared to be fixed mid morning today (tuesday) in the Finger Lakes area of upstate NY. Didn't realize how much I depended on it.

I spoke to HTC and VW. Both acknowledged the problem and blamed the other. Boy that was a shocker!

Yes Rochester has had it for a short while now, but Syracuse and Albany just received it. And this issue started the same day it began going live in Syracuse. Quite a strange coincidence if not related.

I would think if it was a Google problem it would be nation wide. Or did we just get lucky? No other caarriers phones have the problem? Why just Verizon? Did they just get luck too?

Lots of speculation from all corners. My money is on no one admits to anything and we will never know.

Anyone else have theirs start working this morning and stop once again this afternoon
Maybe it is Verizon way of saying " buy a 4g phone" to all of us with 3 g phones

I'm in NYC and I just got the inc2 about a week ago. I used to have the Droid Pro which had no trouble locking onto a gps signal but with this new phone, I could never do it. I thought that perhaps my phone was defective but now after reading this thread it seems that it was simply a coincidence. Most of you say that the issue has been resolved for you but my incredible still has trouble pinning me down. I will attempt to reactive the droid pro and see if it is having trouble now as well. Anyone else in NYC still having issues?

Hey all. Buffalo area. Gps started working again on my droid2 on verizon google maps and nav app around 630pm last night, tuesday. So far so good today as well. Hope for the same to everyone else who had the problem :)

From Albany: my Navigation service has been back for a couple of days now, but the Verizon tech who I spoke with on Monday afternoon acknowledged no alerts and no knowledge of any issues in NY. For my experience with this company, they never heard of anything such as accountability.

Oh, and please don't get me started on the idea that I have the wrong phone (3G), after Verizon so dissed everyone who isn't lining up this week to buy a new 4G job with contract!

Try this fix it worked for me:

uninstall your maps updates and restart your phone then try your nav. and it should work!

I am from Chautauqua Co. in NY as well as some of you other users and while i was in FLorida this past week it was not working i had to go to a VZW store in orlando to try to fix this and i got no where fast and ended up factory resetting it with no luck and lost everything (including Angry Birds  so sad!) it found my location but would the navigation arrow that you see in your notification bar at the top was grey and not blue indicating that it would give you spoken directions, and the bottom of the map screen only said "searching for GPS". but anyway now my nav works! let me know if this works (or dosent) for you. dont bother calling your phones maker or VZW they will just make you factory reset for no reason!

For what it's worth - I live in Northern CA and started having a problem with Navigation Thursday morning. Wouldn't start a route, and then kept saying "GPS signal lost" and then the phone's screen timeout only worked intermittently - sometimes dimming/shutting off after the specified time period set, sometimes not. I don't know if this is related to anybody else's issues as stated here, but I did try the fix above, and so far the timeout has worked - hopefully so.
