Help GPS worked for a while, but not anymore...

I've searched PLENTY on these forums and others too, but I can't find any reason that my GPS stopped functioning. It worked from day one for a few weeks, but recently doesn't work at all on my LG optimus t for tmobile.

Yes GPS is enabled

Yes I've cleared cache in maps, the nav app, and many others

Yes I've killed all apps

Yes I've turned off phone for a long time even with the battery out

I have 2.2 (came with the phone)

I've tried it in many many locations in and outdoors

I've done pretty much everything possible to help it work, but no success. I am convinced now that the GPS unit in the phone is messed up. Any ideas?

You've tried to remedy the issue by clearing cache on those related apps. That is good, but clearing data and defaults has better results for many users across many devices.

Give that a shot, then reboot and see how GPS works.

I had the same thing: GPS stopped working on Optimus T. There was more wrong too, as the phone also was unable to make and receive calls. A known strong network showed "no service." Usual measures such as restarting and pulling+replacing the battery didn't work.

I ended up clearing the Google Maps cache, resetting everything on the phone (Settings | Privacy | Factory data reset) and upgrading back up to Google Maps 5.5. This phone was unlocked and I had used both T-Mobile and AT&T SIMs -- so I switched back and forth. Somewhere in there, something worked and I now have GPS and full calling functionality again. I wish I knew what specifically did it.

Also, there was one scary moment . . . after factory reset, accidentally pulled the battery when it was rebooting. The phone came up with the Android guy holding a warning symbol, but afterward recovered and rebooted normally.

I hope this helps someone. It's a great phone when it's working, which is almost all of the time for me.
