Help gps wrong

Hi all.

I use maverick for recording my cycle routes. It is a great app on my desire. A mate of mine was so impressed that he has had an Android phone. The only problem is that something seems wrong. When recording a route, the distance is not correct. Mine is crack on. The only thing I can think of is that I have the full version and he has the free app. Or maybe it is a phone issue? Any help would be great. Forgot to mention, when he uploads a route, the distance is correct on the online map
 
His GPS receiver probably isn't getting a fix so the phone is falling back on less accurate methods of determining his location.

Any time you use your GPS receiver you'll see the GPS icon in your notification bar. If it's flashing it doesn't have a fix. If it's steady it has a fix. Apps like GPS Status can help with troubleshooting GPS issues. Generally, I find if that my GPS receiver isn't getting a fix that I need to clear it's aGPS data with GPS Status.

The apps do not determine your location. The GPS receiver does. The apps take the location information (latitude, longitude, altitude and time) determined by the GPS receiver and provide everything else that the receiver does not provide.

it seems odd that the info is correct once uploaded
