Help grainy screen

So am I missing something with this screen. People rave about how good it is but my screen is very grainy even when the brightness is turned up. I love this phone overall but the screen is a huge let down IMO. I'm thinking over returning it and trying to see if I get the same results on another phone. Thoughts?
 
Do you notice it on solid colors? Like grey is a good one. If you do then it's normal. The screen is a Pentile display (cheap) which is why you see this.
 
I didn't notice a grainy screen on the VGN. I could make out pentile when reading text, but it was only noticeable when I looked closely. It doesn't detract from the experience like with other lower DPI pentile screens (the jagged text looks horrible on the Droid RAZR).
 
I actually think for this display it looks very good. Unless you have a solid color that makes up a large area and you are really in close looking at it. If you hold it at a normal distance away from your eyes then it looks very good. IMO.
 
i actually notice it on all colors and graphics. when i turn the brightness up it goes away some but is still noticeable. i do have a screen protector i brought from verizon on there some i'm thinking that may be the issue. after reading around the board it seems like it's hit or miss with people noticing it on their phone.
 
The grainy screen is coming from the screen protector. I didn't have one on there for a couple of days and the screen was great! I bought some from verizon put it on the phone and it ruined the screen quality. It gave it a grainy look just as you are describing. I took it off and now the screen is back to looking beautiful.
