Mine's going back after AT&T also told me today NO 3G until August here... (after insisting earlier it would be March 31). Don't trust them anymore, so I don't guess it matters what data plan I was on.

it doesnt exist in their system as an option to choose now but they do have the billing code to force it through for those that had the unltd SMART phone plan before and are moving to another SMART phone.

i was also on the phone for like an 20mins and was told if you didnt have a SMART phone unltd plan before they stopped offering it the system will NOT let them add the plan code to your line because the system runs a check to see if there was unltd data for a smart phone prior to getting the new phone. not sure how true this system check is, but if it is i dont think it is fooled between non smart phone unltd and smart phone unltd plans. this is why the iphone 2g trick works because once it shows as having an unltd plan on that line the rep on the phone is allowed by the system to then add the code to the new phone.

You will get a new answer every time you call. I also spoke to a rep that told me the iphone required 2 data plans to function, a 200mb and in my case the unltd plan as well. And that I would be billed for those 2 plans based on how much I use, but that the 200mb plan gets used first. Not really sure what this person was smoking but it must have been really strong.

iTunes is setting me up for an Apple ID. What am I doing wrong?

I finally got an iPhone 2G and after resetting the phone, I start the iTunes program and it asks if I want to log in or setup a new account, I select new account and it asks me for a credit card #. What am I doing wrong and what does it mean registering iphone 2G with iTunes (I am not an iphone user)?

I'm not sure about this as I'm not an iphone user but my husband is. I think apple makes you put a credit card on file to buy apps. Then when you go into the app store from the phone to buy an app it will ask you to enter your password and then charge the card linked to your account. I don't think apple does the bill to mobile option.

I think you're referring to this: I used the 2g iphone trick to get unlimited data - Android Forums

Apparently there's a way to get unlimited data by using an iPhone 2G. Follow those steps in that link and it should work. I didn't use that method so I'm not sure personally how to do it.
