Root GREAT Froyo ROM - CyanogenTazz!

Same here, which is why I went back to V1. I've seen talk of a "fix" but the steps look a little complex. :confused:
 
It's looking like V6 might be posted today. In final test stage.

I have yet to do a complete wipe since V1. I just flash the Cache and install on top of the previous version. No issues here.

Once all minor bugs are worked out, I may do a complete wipe.

I just tested it again; one very large wallpaper from my pc that I'd dragged into the Gallery, and one new pic I took from Camera Magic of my two parakeets. Both went without a hitch to my kid's Blackberry Tour.

Where did you see the fix, Shnuddy?

I tried an APN restore (from a 2.1 ROM that worked), and that didn't seem to help me out - but the "complex" fix did work. In any event, the dev (tazzpatriot) said he discovered what the problem was, so no doubt that will be fixed in V6.

Seems like he has been making all his ROMs overlay compatible, so it sounds like you will have a fix within a day or so - maybe sooner.

if by tearing out stocks apps, you mean deleting apps like facebook, twitter and car home, then yea, i deleted maybe like 5-10 stock apps.

Yeah.. before I waved Cyanogen Tazz into my Eris I asked a few questions here and there. What you did sounds pretty close to my regimen with a Froyo ROM (I don't overclock 2.1 ROMs any more): 729/729 with just a sleep profile at 245.

I am now wondering why my mms is successful with no fix or other fooling around; it just works. I've sent 6 now, 3 from Gallery and 3 new photos via Camera Magic and they all went as they should.

maybe YOUR eris just takes the words "smart phone" to a whole new level. lol

i cant send mms but i can receive them. i dont send many pics anyways, so i dont mind waiting for v6.
 
That's a good find, but I rather like it not branded.. I'm looking for a way to have my name there at the lock screen, but not in the notification area.

I've created a wallpaper with my name on it, but I'd like the actual lock screen to have it and not the wallpaper for the lock screen.

Dont quote me, but if you decompres the zip file posted above, drill down to the following folder: \ChangetoVZW\data

edit the XML file
eri.xml

and then edit line 5 where it says:
EriInfo RoamingIndicator="128" IconIndex="1" IconMode="0" EriText="Verizon Wireless" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0"/>

Just change "Verizon Wireless" to "Friso da man"

and then save it, zip it, and flash it...

just be sure to do a nandbackup in case you kill the lock screen data ;-)

Yo Frisco (or anyone else who's on right now) - I don't think I can keep myself away from Froyo any longer, and I want to try this rom tonight. Do I just format my SD card in Windows to un-partition it?
 
Well, I was using Apps2SD in White Widow previously (and in a few other roms) off of the ext partition I made, but I was under the impression that you can't run Froyo with a partitioned card.

That seems to be the case for Tazz V5. I don't know if it holds true for all Froyo (or all Cyanogen Froyo) ROMs, but it certainly is the case for this one.

In a way that's a clever method to get people to stick with this ROM - it's a pain in the arse to go back to an A2SD ROM, even if you have multiple SD cards available.

My problem is exactly the opposite, I can send txt and pic messages fine. I cannot receive anything. I have wiped, reflashed over and over..even differnent roms. I have also done both fix methods on the Tazz FAQ. Nothing seems to work, I have even replaced the apn with a working one from my daughters rooted 2.1 phone..still no luck, the apn restore from her apn failed. I did notice that the verizon apn stanza in the xml file had apn=internet on mine and apn="" on hers so I even created a new xml file with the one like hers. Still not working. I LOVE this rom so will wait patiently until v6 I guess. I am worried that something else is wrong since I even did a NAND restore back to WW 4.6 on 2.1 and still had the same mms issue.

Any ideas? is there a way to replace the messaging or flash in something else?
I even tried the wipe, flash v3 or even v4 and then flash 5.
 
Finally rooted yesterday. Problem is I don't like to make decisions so I can stay on a ROM. Flashing this right now and hopefully I will like it. I've tried TaintedVanilla and Aloysius. Liked TaintedVanilla but wasn't too keen on Aloysius.

From reading this thread and many others I am to understand that if you want to flash a Froyo rom you should not partition your sd card - correct?

Are you able to add Apps2SD afterward?

For Froyo ROM's, you do not need a card that is partitioned, you can either backup your card, then format your existing card Fat32 and copy the files back or you can go into the recovery menu, select partition, set swap and ext to 0 and that will reformat the partition as Fat32.
 
i fixed my swype issue. I had moved it to the sd card which caused an issue. It needs to be installed internally with this ROM.
