Greatest browser EVER!

Newbie
I just downloaded Opera Mobile 11 and had to rave about it. Ive tried every browser out there and always went back to stock. But this one blows my mind. I cannot believe scrolling and zooming can be so smooth. And it is sooooooo fast! just thought you should know. And yes ive tried the new firefox and there is no comparison

Yep. I'm using it for a while now and it replaces my Android browser.
I was charmed by its smooth scrolling and zooming, features and easy access UI.
The only drawback is the large application size for the phones with limited internal storage.

I used opera for a while but returned back to Dolphin HD because they ran at about the same speed for me (HTC Evo), Dolphin seemed to render pages much better. For example, when I would load up a news page with a flash video and would zoom in on the video, the video would not zoom in but the text would and it was annoying. The main problem I had with it was that it would only display websites in the mobile format even though i changed the settings to desktop.

I agree, Opera mobile is ridiculously smooth. The only browser on android that can even come close to the buttery smoothness of safari on iphone. Its kind of unfortunate that google can't put out a smooth browser.

I don't want a browser that can't open websites in a proper desktop mode (+Flash).
Ideally, a browser should enable you to easily switch between the desktop and mobile modes, and also between Flash and non-Flash modes. Opera does that.
The only thing that annoys my with Opera Mobile is its relative size. With some medium browsing the size of the Opera Mobile + data in it can reach easily 30MB. Even moving it to SD card under app2sd solution still leaves some 10MB on internal storage.
Dolphin HD and Miren are much smaller and yet both offer Flash support.

YouTube - Opera Turbo

Here is why I don't bother with mini browsers (Opera mini or Dolphine mini). The Turbo mode in Opera Mobile takes care of fast browsing if the connectivity is not so good. :)

Miren for me too - tried 'em all now and sticking with Miren.
Smooth, fast and easy to zoom and double tap makes the page fit the screen.
Works great for me, nothing better.

I've tried every browser I could find in the Market (at least the ones with more than three reviews), and I'm still back to the stock Browser. That's the best for me, at least on a capable phone. For an older phone with little RAM and no processing power, Opera Mini is the best.

Miren was my fave too, handling of tabs was nice, and the speediest of the webkit browsers.

Opera is insanely fast and smooth, blows the webkit browsers away. Double tap to fit and fonts don't seem as nice however, giving it awhile for a fair comparison, but yeah seriously nice so far. (coming from chrome/firefox user who never liked Opera desktop).

I guess I am alone with skyfire, for me it is the best for watching anime, my favorite online activity.

I'm with you. The only thing I don't like is that it's not great at clearing the cache when exiting. I often have to do that manually even though out should be automatic.

Ok, I've just tried:

Stock
Opera Mobile
Opera Mini
Dolphin HD
Dolphin Mini

I'm sticking with Opera, despite the hassle to access your bookmarks. I really like the way Dolphin manages the tabs (chrome-esque design) but Opera is just butter smooth.

I tried Miren a while back, now I can't find it. Tried Boat for about 6 months (liking it a lot), tried Dolphin HD a week or two (didn't like it), just keep coming back to Xscope. It's the only browser I found that will zoom on mobile sites; it always wraps text well so all pages are very readible at any text size. Three ways to view bookmarks, easy to edit, easy to import/export. Uses menu button to go full-screen which is it's second best feature (second to page formatting).

Prior to upgrading to my Galaxy Nexus, my favorite browser was Opera Mobile 11. Everything else just lagged on my HTC Incredible. Dolphin and all the like are all re-skinned off the stock Gingerbread browser so they never improved much. IMO, from best to worst:

ICS 4.0.4's Native browser
Chrome for Android
ICS <4.0.4's Native browser
Opera Mobile 11
Opera Mini

Holy dug up threads Batman. I wrote this almost a year ago. Yeah opera was my favorite browser by far before I got my new phone. Now my favorite is safari ;)

Dolphin fan myself but recently tried chrome and seemed very smooth and stable. As a former iphone user I never had much love for safari, even now on my ipod it's still atomic web. Opera is my choice when on the move as it renders pages very well on a non wifi connection.

I found myself always going back to the stock browser app also. Will have to try this one out. I haven't used an Opera browser since 2001

Just tried the Opera and yes, its surprisingly very smooth, better than Dolphin in that regard. I've always liked Opera on PC, and the only thing I don't like about it was that Tweetdeck Web doesn't support it so I use Chrome to have the app. But with this on the mobile browser I'm considering going back to it on PC. Opera Link is nice to have. :)

Going back and forth between my Galaxy Nexus and iPad, I much prefer ICS's native browser over Safari!

But my iPad rocks for dueling in High Noon

Have you tried poking around in the preferences?
I have. There is no option to disable restoring the tabs from last session. Here are all the options in the settings in Opera:
  • Load images
  • Opera Turbo
  • Opera Link
  • Single column view
  • Status bar
  • Navigation bar
  • Zoom
  • Text wrapping
  • Privacy
    • Remember passwords
    • Accept cookies
    • Clear history
    • Clear passwords
    • Clear cookies
    • Clear cache
    • Clear shared locations
  • Advanced
    • User Agent
    • Exit button

Which preference were you thinking of?
