Help Greek characters send as latin characters?

Hi all,

So I recently sent in my Sony Xperia Z1 for repairs as there was a dead spot on the touch screen. After a few days, I was just given a new phone, same model.

Now I've been re-installing everything on my phone, but I just have 1 infuriating issue now. On my previous phone, I was able to send any non-latin characters and receive them with no issues (specifically greek, as I use greek characters a lot). However, on this new phone I have, I am only able to receive greek characters from other people. When I try send greek letters, the following will happen

What I send:
Αβγδεζηθικλμνξοπρστυφχψω

What my messaging app (handcent sms) shows that I sent:
ΑΒΓΔΕΖΗΘΙΚΛΜΝΞΟΠΡΣΤΘΦΧΨΩ

What the recipient actually receives:
AB EZH IK MN O P TYΔX

Multinlig works for me. The stock keyboard only sends capital letters in the Greek alphabet for some reason.
