Did you just update to KitKat? Been awhile since I've been on anything other than Lollipop & Marshmallow but that sounds about right. I think starting in KitKat, all of the status icons turned white.
No.I had gotten my new cell in Feb 2016 it was green then but now their white.I had had a Android phone before I had it for 3 years before I wore it out.lol
