Help Green line through screen :(

Chadzuk

Lurker
Hopefully someone can help me with this. I bought a Samsung Galaxy s3 about a week and a half ago and it's been working great. This morning I woke up and everything seemed fine, went to work and when I went to use it, there is a bright line shooting down the left part of the screen. I've tried taking out the battery, rebooting it, etc and it's still there. I bought a strong protective Otter Box case to protect it and also have a screen protector. I haven't done anything to warrant any significant damage though :(. The only thing I do know is last night was the first time I had the battery fully drain on me and had it charging most of the night. I'm wondering if this could have had any strange affect on it, it's the only thing I can think of. The green line looks almost like when one of those old TV's are going and green lines start shooting down it.

I am bringing it back to the AT&T store where I got it since it's not even 2 weeks old. I'm hoping it will be identified as being defective and I can get it replaced. I thought if anyone here had any thoughts it would be helpful.

Thank you!
Chad

Welcome Chadzuk!
The only thing I can think of, is in the Developer settings, make sure every box is UN-checked.
Otherwise, I would do what you suggest...bring it back to AT&T:)

What happens when u take a screenshot of it? (That should let u know if its a fault with software or a physical fault in the screen) (hold down power and home at same time for a couple seconds, look at it in gallery n see if its in the pic... obviously zoom in and move it around a bit)

This is useful advice. Also, does the line show up on the boot screen or only once fully booted into android?

I don't get funky lines any time. Take it back and get a new exchange. Don't take a refurb or returned unit either.

Great idea. You could also swipe the screen with the edge of your hand to take a screen shot.
