Grid on the screen

Hello people,

Here a somewhat weird question, I've bought the HTC Desire HD, but when the screen is off, I see somewhat of a grid.

Is this just for style, or does it serve a purpose? Or doesn't the Desire HD have any grid when turned off, and is it just my screen protector?

Just out of curiosity.

It's the multi touch, nothing to worry about, intact, tis a good thing.

On the SGS yo can even see some of the main micro chips behind the glass!

I saw this a few times when the screen was on and off. Thought it was a bit weird but glad its nothing. Thought i was putting too much pressure on the screen or something.
