Help Group and MMS messanging

I just got a new S4, and I am trying to find the best way to send texts. The thing that I do not like about the built in messaging app is that there are no picture emoticons. I have tried GoSMSPro and Handscent, but neither of those handle group texts correctly (Both programs send individual texts to groups). How can I add smileys to the native app, or correct my problem with groups in the others since I like them better?

Either of your solutions would require rewriting the apps. Maybe there's another app out there that you'd like better. You'll have to try a lot of them to see.
