Help GS2 Firmware upgrade problem

With Kies installed on my PC, I have connected my S2 via USB and it has connected to Kies and said I need a firmware upgrade.
However, when I run through the process part way through "preparing firmware upgrade" it comes up and says "cannot access model information server. Try again later" and the upgrade aborts.

I have no problems with my internet connection and no matter how much later I try I still get the message.

Anybody got any ideas?

This sounds like a server-side issue. Keep trying and it should rectify itself.

This may well be the case as there's also a problem updating Kies.

I had a lot of grief updating through Kies via USB last night. It took me four hours to get it sorted. In the end it worked (after an emergency firmware recovery) but it kept hanging at various points throughout the process.
