I just got a Galaxy S 2 a few hours ago - the first smartphone I've ever owned - and while I'm sure I'll run into a whole slew of interesting and puzzling things over the next few days, right now I've run into a severe annoyance I can't find any obvious reason or solution for.
It seems that whenever I turn or tilt the phone in just about any manner within in an application (the gallery and video player were the first places where I notice it), I'm sent right back to the homescreen. I've been able to reproduce this from seemingly all or most screens, but it doesn't seem always seem to be equally sensitive, sometimes a quick upwards tilt is required to be returned to the homescreen, other times a 90 degree turn and a quick tilt.
Either way it's annoying as hell, as I've accidentally been kicked out of applications several times now. The gallery application in particular seems extraordinarily sensitive.
I've triple checked that motion activation is turned off. What can I do to rid my phone of this silly and fairly unpredictable behaviour?

. Perhaps I should turn on the display of those two buttons again until I start getting to their location
