Welcome to the forums pelukis plan.

Who is your carrier in Malaysia? After some Google searching the only Malaysia Galaxy S2's I see are the International version (i9100 or i9100G).

my carrier is Maxis
yeah i got as a gift from my uncle
he just come back from US
he won't go back to US for quite some time
Samsung Malaysia said can't do anything about my problem (can't upgrade to ICS coz of not supported in Malaysia)

So it is a phone from the US that takes a sim card? It's unlocked so you can use it with Maxis? How does that work? I don't really know about Malaysian carriers. You could try using Odin to install ICS., but it is a T-Mobile stock rom. I don't know how it may affect you service with Maxis.

I don't know exactly what is on your phone now. The safer way might be to root it and then you can try ICS roms. You could then also make a backup of your current system to restore if you need to.

the problem is this is my first time with android (symbian, RIM & ios user before)
i heard about root (but no idea even after read it)
even though i manage to jailbreak and unlock RIM by myself before but it was piece of cake compare to root.
can you give me link to root for dumbass like me?
if root can i restore it back?

Yes, you could unroot and restore back to stock with Odin. The problem is, I don't know for sure what your stock rom is. For instance, is it the stock rom just for Maxis or is it a stock rom for a US carrier where your father bought the phone?

i have no idea
how to check it?

I'm not sure. Can you ask your father where he bought it? How did you get it set up to work with Maxis? What did you have to do? Does your phone have a sim card? Do you have any carrier specific apps on your phone?

If the model number and baseband version you gave is correct, it sounds like a T-Mobile Galaxy S2. I'm just not clear on how that works with Maxis and I don't want to tell you something wrong. Look in settings > about phone, what is your build number?

please find below for my build number

It looks like you have the T-Mobile firmware. It says no firmware when you try software update because its not available as an OTA update.

Do you have any apps on your phone for your carrier Maxis or any for T-Mobile?

you mean apps that special for carrier?
yeah i have all t-mobile apps once restore factory setting.
so i'll root it and if something wrong happen i'll just restore.

Before you use odin to install ICS or root and install a rom, go to settings > mobile networks. Select your APN and try to take a screenshot of those settings or write them down if you need them later. I don't know if yours may be different with you on Maxis. Just in case you need them later.
