Ok guys....
Today i decided to stuff around and i wanted to use my SII as a bluetooth reciever for my laptop (something i had done with an old n95 and a crappy little eepc years ago so it shouldnt be too hard right? right?)
Wrong. I havent fiddled around with bluetooth between my phone and laptop (also a Samsung, RC710) but found that some 8 different bluetooth peripherals were not working, and i could not access the properties in the Bluetooth devices tab, in order to add the outgoing com port you need.
As other people have had, i have been able to send pics across via bluetooth, and various other tasks, but it just would not install right. Spoke to Samsung live chat who asked "Can you send files?" "Yep" "Can you pair?" "Yep" "So whats your problem then?"..... told him my story... and this was Samsungs response -
"You cant do that with your phone, its just not possible"
My response was, "Well, you can, you just dont support it, which isnt my issue, i just want to know if you know how to fix these errors" "If the stuff i asked you works, works, then other errors arent our problem"
So its back on us. Now, plenty of "Remove this, install that, use Kies, trust me i know best" threads later, no dice.
So, i start with the bluetooth driver file from Samsungs website... that install gave me the ol "Error 1935"... usually common when youre trying to install one copy of office or something over another..... which gave me a bit of a clue right there.
The Driver installation errors a lot of people are getting, is a combination of Kies wanting you to install stuff ITS way, and the Bluetooth drivers (Which kies dont support for android so its seperate) are trying to do something else entirely! ALSO ---- I noticed that almost all these complaints are from rather large name brands like Dell, HP, and in my case Samsung, all of which have some form or another of driver signing (dont ask me about that stuff.. no idea, im sure someone else will supply the technical details there) that will stop certain drivers being installed.
SO... heres the solution! (And absolutely works for me)
Uninstall Kies, that shit sucks sweaty ass anyway, and stuffs with your drivers. Dont install the USB drivers tho when it asks.
Go here Bluetooth Software Download | Broadcom and download this bitch! This is the Widcomm branded drivers that run the Broadcom range of bluetooth radios, and get around the checks that Dell and that do, and install without breaking most of the way through. Do not install yet.
Go into your device manager and Uninstall ALL of your bluetooth drivers, including your extra stuff just to be on the safe side.
Go to your program manager and uninstall any bluetooth control software you have (It wont work with previous versions, youll have to uninstall)
Next, you can either restart, and let the usual hardware detection start installing the basic bluetooth drivers for your computer, or just hit 'Scan for changes'
The basic drivers will then come up, and will leave you with a bunch of failed drivers, dont worry about it, youll see why in a minute. As long as there are 2 Bluetooth radios in the device manager, we are all good.
NOW. Install the file you downloaded from the Widcomm site. It will run slow at first, but when it gets to the third stage..... Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.... expect about 10 extra bluetooth devices youve never seen before if youre having this problem.
I now have full file sharing, networking, media streaming, gps transmitting capabilities not only from my Galaxy S2, but also my ZTE V9.
So, the TL;DR?
1. Uninstall Kies
2. Uninstall all broadcom bluetooth control software
3. Download widcomm installer
4. Uninstall all bluetooth drivers
5. Allow reinstall of the 2 basic bluetooth radio drivers, ignore fails.
6. Run widcomm installer as administrator
7. ???
8. PROFIT!
Stay funky.
