Help GS2,..worth buying?

Basically I am fascinated by the specifications and always liked this phone, but the issues some people have just drive me crazy and make me want to go for a good OLD iphone 4. Which one should I really go for if I wanna use it for:

Heavy usage, at leasy 1-3 hours everytime.

I hate it when phones get hot, can it damage the phone though? Is it possible to downclock the CPU sometimes? Are games really that grate?, even when your phone is fully stored? wont they lagg? Does the phone slow down when much is stored on it, lik 90%+. Cz I know the iphone definately doesnt.

THanks for answering any of these questions.

I got 30 hours out of my battery, ending today... medium use. On the latest firmware, rooted, to allow me to use an app which (requires a high level of control of the SGS2, hence "rooting" the device was required) freezes applications, and stops them running... I simply froze all the samsung crap, and got the official apps for twitter, facebook etc. and use Amazon app for reading. This helps battery life immensely.

Battery life will improve further when google optimise android for dual core cpu phones like the SGS2, in the next android version, 2.3.5 (iirc)

My phone very rarely gets warm, let alone hot.

The screen is amazing... I had an iphone 4, and the screen was good, but this is amazing... the extra 0.6" makes it feel a bit more tablet-y too, and it's great for the web!

The android customisation is fun, but once set up how you like it, the phone requires as little tweaking as an iphone.

I think we hear too much negativity on this forum... I'm sure there are a huge amount of happy users out there like me, but due to the nature of forums, people come asking for advice with problems... not every SGSII has problems thats for sure, I've read lots of people "bigging up" the phone on various forums and websites.

I'd go for it if I were you it's a brilliant phone, whether you game or not, the power of it reflects in use. The screen is so good, and the camera is great.

In short, get it!

THank you sooo much. 3 more questions, what are the best ways to get the best out of ur battery. Does the phone catch viruses easily? and speed/graphical usage vs iphone 4, which is better/smoother?

Dad has an I4 and i just came frm a 3Gs..Gotta say this phone obliterates the iphone in every way. Maybe the one flaw cld be the appstore being more user friendly.Thats about it

Only had it a day and i dont know how a phone could get any better

Best ways to get out of your battery. In terms of charging methods/periods? The battery is good, and to improve it you can turn off data when your not using it. Or set email to sync every half hour rather than every 5 minutes (etc)

About viruses. No it doesn't. It can happen, but I've never heard of anyone, even on the forums that has ever had a virus. And to cure some paranoia, there are a fair few apps, paid and free that will act as anti virus apps - but the whole virus thing, really isn't an issue! :p

And speed and graphics. It is MUCH faster then the iPhone 4. This this is AMAZINGLY snappy! And I'd imagine that graphics wise, that they are a lot better. Of course the iP4 is a year old. But I have no doubt that this phone will match the iphone 5.

The ONLY REASON I say "match" and not "beat"/"is better than" is because the iPhone 5 is going to be coming out an entire 7-8 months BEFORE the GSII. And well I'd say nearer to 10 months if you include the month(s) of finalization before the GSII went in to full scale production.

Was wondering what the thoughts now that the Bionic Droid has been updated to more ram, faster processor, bigger screen is the Samsung Galaxy SII worth getting. Has anyone any thoughts?

Seems the 4.5" display may not be correct on the Bionic. Either case, it seems August is best bet for the Bionic and SG2. Just in time for tiered data plans.
