Help GS3 4.3 Update - HELP!

jlawn

Lurker
My device recently updated it's firmware - now at 4.3. I HATE it, and the biggest reason, it discarded my Google TALK app. Now it's Hangouts, which is the worst chat app I've seen (nobody can see my status, that I'm available), and a mess for me to use.

Does anyone know how I can roll back to the last version of firmware I had? More importantly, how can I find the original Google Talk app that I was using? Even if I can't go back on firmware, I need this app at the very least. This was one of the best apps, and I very much need it for my work.

Any help would be very much appreciated!!! thanks!

I might be wrong....but the Google Talk app does not exist any more and has been replaced by (IMHO) the much better hangouts app.
I doesn't show people when you are available because (unless I've missed a setting) you are always on. Not sure what the Snooze setting does??
You have mood smilies you can set. And if you go into Hangout settings > click on your Gmail account > you can set a status message.

To your edit, if your rooted, backup hangouts via titanium, uninstall hangouts then try installing gtalk.

That should work.

It probably wouldn't install since there's already a previous version of the same app on your device.
