GS3 Extended Battery

Although I agree that my s3 lasts more than long enough that having an extended battery never even crossed my mind, its ridiculously insane to know that a phone like this can go possibly 3 days on a single charge lol... if it wasnt for the added size and high price tag I would consider it. But at this point I don't think it's necessary for me at all. The only time it would come in handy for me is in emergency situations where I had to spend the night somewhere else and couldn't get home till the next evening..

Cool find though!

I would probably be in the market for a extended battery. But not one this size and adding that much bulk.

Maybe if Samsung produces one in the 3,000 mAH range I would consider pulling the trigger. This seems a little extreme. I would use one for traveling and other different circumstances.

I know for my Thunderbolt, I got a battery that increased the capacity of the battery without changing the size. That would be a good buy.

What is taking Samsung so long to announce their OEM extended battery. Getting impatient here !!!

Between waiting for an official (with NFC) extended battery and a proper official car dock, I'm getting extremely impatient, especially coming from my Droid X with the extended battery and amazing car dock. :(

I could care less about NFC, so open for more options. Surprised there is not an extended battery yet, but with previous devices, carriers especially with 4G pushed extended kits out, at or near launch.

My guess is since the GS3 does get better battery life compared to previous 4G devices, the carriers feel less of a need to have them made. NFC needs and testing could also delay the process for "official" options.

As far as HTC, they seem to always have extended batteries at launch. They love makin money on the add-ons. As they should, since customers WANT them.

Added: The "Mug" battery in the link for $100 is nuts. I will take my chance on the $16 4000 mah battery at Amazon. I have bought non-official batteries for every phone until the Razr (which needed one badly).

Added:

I think I will order to to see if it works and treat it as a public service project ;) Yes, I think I will. The "$16" is really $21 after shipping. I think eBay has the same battery minus the shipping.... will report back.

Yep, did it. Got this one, since Hyperion batteries overall get good reviews, save for complaints about size. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008GWIVTQ/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00

If I add this to it, I might have to have it registered as a weapon:

Please report back. I've had my S3 since last Friday (the 13th), I still think that my wife still gets way better battery life with her Maxx (ICS).

The thing that would suck is I actually got a holster/case (with kickstand) that I really like,

Thanks Rush!

Yes, I have the plastic clamshell with built in stand and holster fron VZW. I like it, so might just use the mega chunga battery for times I know will need it.

I also checked Hyperion reviews from other similar sized devices. Will not get it until next week. I will test it two days before posting. I was a production manager for a major battery company for almost 18 months and cringe (respectfully) when people talk about breaking a battery in, or step charging. They mean well, at least :)

I broke down - and ordered it - just planned a midweek getaway for July 31 and August 1 - saw that delivery is 10-14 days. . . LMK what your shipping looks like.

Thanks!

Same delivery time frame for me too. I am fine right now, but ordered to test and have another option for trips. This solution is a little smaller than the Mugen and 20% the cost. Going by the average of Amazon reviews for other devices, Hyperion are not bad batteries.

Were it not for an actual usage and review history for Hyperion batteries, I would not have ordered it. These other batteries popping up seem to have a more dubious potential.

Check out Qcell...on average for previous models (ex SII) seem to get better overall reviews than hyperions....I'm pretty satisfied with mine....now if only I could find a case that fits it!!

Thanks - this may sound like a stupid question - but - how are Qcell's backs? I saw the comment for the link I posted that the battery was fine - but the back cracked - and I had the same problem with a different manufacturer.

My phone is pebble blue so I ordered that...doesn't exactly match oem color, but for me it's glossy, solid and close enough...what I didn't realize till today is their extended batteries have NFC capabilities...which doesn't really matter to me cause I don't have the first clue how to utilize that function...but might be nice for those that do!

Thanks - any review of the battery?

I have the infuse 4g dock with integrated usb which works, but takes two hands to remove from the mount and it will cause paint damage over time. The DX car mount was the most awsome phone mount I'd ever used. 2 second single handed inserts and removes and the ability to quickly change from portrait to landscape. It's a shame there isn't anything like that for the S3.

Im too lazy and ADD to include data about precise usage, time, etc...sorry lol...but below are two links to the amazon sites of the white and pebble
E blue versions....about 25 reviews there, just about all positive!

Actually saw those reviews which gives me some concern over the back.

I emailed Hyperion yesterday early afternoon about the possibility of getting expedited shipping. If I don't hear back by the end of the day tomorrow, I'm going to request that they cancel - and order the Qcell one - since it's fulfilled directly though Amazon - will have it in plenty of time. Need to decide if I want the matching "blue" back - or - maybe go for the white. . .

Update - I received this like 5 minutes ago:

Will be shipping out today and should see it in a couple of days. Amazon has a generic estimated time of delivery and we can't do anything to change that.

I emailed back asking about NFC and got this response - almost immediately:

Yes, these are coming with the NFC tag in them now.

I do not need NFC, so will stick with the Hyperion. Compared to the Q, the back appears to look better, not as slick and the cover is a tad less thick.

The Hyperion DOES have NFC (at this point - I don't need it either). USPS says that today is my expected delivery. . .

I have tried several extended batterys in the past, none matched the performance i saw from Seidioonline.com's products.

I see they have the 3500 as "Coming Soon" with or without NFC.

If i buy one, id go with Seidio, unless you guys convince me otherwise.

In that case, butter on the biscuit :)

Assuming the "biscuit" is fresh and tasty (real battery life results).

Added:

Two things I do not like about Seidio (though have purchased their batteries). They have wrongly marketed same size batteries with overstated mAh and for the price they ask, I can try three other options and still cost less than their 3500 ;)

Even if the battery "half" life is a third less, getting two Hyperions would be better total cost. My guess though is these batteries will perform similarly. Seidio gets away with it because people keep buying at the prices they charge. Good for them- as long as they have competition ;)
