Help GS4 Facebook messenger unusual problem

Hi. I have an unusal problem. When i receive a facebook message, I turn my phone on, I scroll down to the notification area to see who its from. When i click on it to open it it will not open until I swipe to unlock my phone (no password protection of any kind is required). If I unlock it then it will open. My old phone did not do that. I do not have this problem with regular text messaging just facebook messaging. Any idea on how to get around that? Thank you.

That's perfectly normal, go to settings, my device, lockscreen, screen lock and select none

It didn't do that on my previous LG phone. I could have a lock screen that was a swipe. Is the GS4 just made that way? Thank you.
