Root GSM and rooting

mmx1337

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to search through the posts here about the different ways to root the inc2; however, noone mentions whether or not GSM will work after the root (well with cyanogenmod). I would like to use gingerbread, if possible. because it is an updated version of the OS.
It normally wouldn't be a big deal, but I am in Germany, and I will not be able to go to the States for a while to find a Verizon store if the phone refuses to work on the GSM network. I know I can use a backup program after the rooting process is finished, alas I don't want to break my means of contact to the USA by venturing into the rooting process without someone reporting it working already.

Thanks for the help.
Greetings from Germany!

It should work fine on the RMK 2.3 Gingerbread rom, because it just adds root functions but maintains the factory kernel that came with the phone.

Other cyanogenmod roms might not support it because they are based on different versions of the kernel. The only way to know for sure what rom supports it is to ask in the specific forums.
