(GSM) GNex battery - Facebook is sucking battery life down (15+%!!!)

Help!! Got a GSM/HSPA+ unlocked GNex on Thurs... so far so good... it's pretty sweet. Although, noticing that Facebook is sucking down my battery life... in the usage panel, it's regularly the top app, and the 2nd battery drainer (after the screen which I expect first)...

I've turned off Messenger location setting, as well as 'Nearby friends' ...

I've had refresh set to 2 hrs... should it be 4 hrs, or even 'Never' ?

Any other ideas for FB other than uninstalling the app?

It just sucks. Literally. I uninstalled it a few days ago and noticed a big boost in battery. Use the browser.

Seconded. The app stinks on ice. Even set to never sync it still wakelocks all the time. Use the mobile site (nearly identical to the app) or friendcaster (awesome but with some limitations based on your friends security policies).

yeah i posted in the "applications" forum the other day. After this recent FB update it was killing my battery. I was wondering if other people were seeing the same thing. ..I guess now i know lol.

for now i'm just going to use the web app version (i've uninstalled the FB app) and see how battery life goes... then I'll reinstall and compare again...

right now, my usage is inconsistent since it's so new and like a new toy i'm using it a bunch ;)

it did, but it's not consistent... one day it's sucking 16%, the other day, 4%... sometimes does show up on the battery usage list at all... so I dunno...

for now, i'm reinstalled it and monitoring it... i can at least get through my work day, so i'll keep it on for now... I have turned off the Nearby Friends alerts, as well as Messenger Location, and set the refresh to Never. I think all those help. Oh, and signed out of chat.

Another option would be to not use Facebook at all. That's what I did and it never drains my battery or my personal information. :D

There's an app called Fast Facebook. Its a lot faster and smoother than the official Facebook app. I'm not sure how it affects battery life, but it's another option.

I switched from the official Facebook app to Friendcaster and it is a lot less harsh on my battery life.

My battery isn;t being drained so fast...then again I didn't install the latest manual update....hate the new icons.
But my gripes are with the horrible loading times.....I might check to see if the webversion loads just as slow.....if it doesn't, then I'm uninstalling it!

Yup, bet chat was doing it.
