GSM Thunderbolt?

Has anyone heard anything about a GSM version of the Thunderbolt? I thought I remembered reading an article on Phandroid a while back discussing that it hit the FCC or something, but I can't seem to find it right now. The phone is incredible and I'd love to get it for AT&T as a replacement for my Nexus One :)

closest thing to it is the Inspire 4G since you are on att

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Inspire 4G is a good notion, but falls short of what Sprint has had with the EVO 4G for about a year.

I really want a phone with front and rear-facing cameras, and need a phone with a 4.3" screen. Thus, both the Inspire 4G and the Atrix 4G fall short.

I asked about a GSM version and was told that the sim card location is used by the LTE sim so no GSM coming. It is a competing radio within the device for the same sim. Don't know if this is true, but that is what the rep told me.

Oh, nice. I was actually talking about an altogether different Thunderbolt, packaged for use specifically on GSM networks, not a "Droid 2 Global"-like phone that'll do CDMA/LTE/GSM all-in-one. I thought I heard something about a GSM Thunderbolt passing FCC, but I could be mistaken.

Do you really need the front facing camera? Ive had it on the last two phones before this one, and ive used literally once...

Yeah, i know how that is. I wanted a front camera but never use it unless its to take self photos of my girl and i.

Yeah, it's alright. Aren't the specs essentially the same as the Inspire 4G, though, minus 4G?
Its the same device but has that front camera. ATT is calling their HSPA 4G, and will launch 4G LTE starting in 2013 I believe.

The Desire HD is a HSPA device so its still 4G kind of
