Root [GUIDE] Change your Font Color

"Now open APKMultiTools, hit enter until you find yourself here (see picture)"

After this part I press enter and it says i went crazy and clicked something wrong. I know im being stupid and missing some simple thing but i cant get to that menu in your screenshot. all i have are the 3 options and 4 is read log, 5 is about and tips, and 00 is to quit. Sorry for stupid question but how do i get to that menu with all the options?

Don't rape the Enter key lol, just hit it one at a time.

I wanted to change the font color on my phone so bad I Googled my behind off for a few days looking for how to do this but found nothing solid, pieces here and there. So I decided to make a guide about it using what I had learned.
OMG your metal/gray shaded background is very nice!
can you post the resources? (maybe this time it's necessary to post some files) i love to have the same look

WOW

For some reason it doesn't change the colors for me. I compiled the file back, put it on my phone, no change. Pulled the file again and decompiled, checked the color codes, everything is just I edited it (following your guide and the one from the link), but still nothing changes. I tried multiple times no luck.
I tried your file, but that put my phone in bootloop.

I have an Xperia Active, btw.

Yeah, you can't use my framework on a different device. And perhaps there are more places on your device where codes need to be changed around for it to work.

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted.
All I want to change is the clock font color (locked and normal) and the "desktop" apps names. Any idea what should I look for?

WARNING: Follow this GUIDE and make changes at your own risk. Always have a back up of the files you are editing and a full nand back up doesn't hurt either.

FAILSAFE: Because you could end up bootlooping if you don't follow the Guide step by step I recommend doing the following BEFORE you start :

I. What you’re going to need:
II. Pulling the framework-res.apk from your phone. (there are more than one way to do this)

III. Decompiling framework-res.apk.

IV. Editing the .xml files.

V. Compiling framework-res.apk.

VI. Finishing up.

Thanks to:

Hey man , I didnt get what to do with the pictures on IV...

Hello Android black belt dude,

I posted this thread today on these forums "How to change Android JB 4.1 desktop font color and remove the shadows?"

I think your thread can help me. But first a couple of questions:

1. Does this method work with HUAWEI Y300 JB 4.1 Android ?
2. I am a newbie so I must ask, do I need to root my phone first? It is a fresh factory model now. Any guides to where should I look and start that if needed?
3. What color on your IV picture refers to desktop\homescreen text that is under the icons?
4. Any tips on how to remove the shadows (under icons and text) and maybe you bumped into some kind of a guide for that?

Your answer would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Hello son, lol, nah, more like light yellow belt.

If all you need is a different "desktop" font color and remove the shadows, all you need is a new launcher (adw, launcher pro, go launcher, holo launcher, etc) and get away with it. But if you feel like exploring a bit through your phone then I will try to guide you but understand I'm replying from my phone so I will not be linking.

1. It's hard to tell because I don't own that phone. They are very different phones not to mention that from gingerbread to jellybean a lot has changed framework wise. But I followed a guide that was not made for the esteem and made it work so this could be the same case for you ;)

2. Yes, you may need to be rooted. A simple Google search including you phone + model + the word root should show you the way.

3. I'm not sure. I had a customized launcher at the time and that's how I changed those colors for the apps names, which depending on the launcher they can be eliminated all together.

4. Easy Way = download a launcher
Hard way = trial and error.

My apologies if I'm not being as helpful as you may need.

Dear Sensei, gratitude!

One of the launchers did it.. The ADW one. I was so happy to see you reply, you are noble :)

My desktop now is the way I want it, its clean and efficient and balanced, like water, hahhaa...

But seriously thank you, out of 4 forums only you tackled my inquiry.

Now live! while I handwash my purple belt.
