Root Guide for Dummies?

Is there a guide for rooting the Incredible 2 for Dummies? I'm trying to follow the Comprehensive S-OFF/Roots Methods Guide linked in this forum, but it's making me uneasy. I've downloaded the files required, but when I get to the part that says to open a command prompt and type "adb devices," I don't know whether this means on my desktop computer, on my phone or what?!?!

I previously rooted a Droid Incredible, but the instructions were written for the clueless and were very hand holding!
 
The files need to be on your computer. And you have to run adb as admin. If that doesn't make sense you may not need to root this phone.
 
Thank you - I did figure it all out after lots of Googling for info and flashed the stable version of Cyanogenmod. I miss some of the purtiness of Sense, but it's really nice to have purged all that memory hoggin' nonsense from Verizon. Maybe I'll get brave and try some other ROM's, but for now I plan on enjoying something basic that works reliably and will keep that low memory error icon out of my life!!!
 
If you want Sense try GingerBangSense or Andybonestock. If they left any bloat in you can remove it with Titanium Backup.
 
OK, thanks! Now that I have everything set up on my phone again, I am enjoying Cyangogenmod a lot. I'm looking forward to the stable version of CyanogenMod 9. I can't believe how much internal memory I now have on the phone and am completely clueless about what was using 1 GB of memory before I rooted and wiped the phone. Bizarre.
