[GUIDE] How to Disable Boost Data Throttle - *Confirmed Works

I would be interested in knowing since I havent had any luck on my thread yet. I didnt use ES but just root manager pro and there werent two files in there, just one and following the steps just bumped my data all together

As far as I know this hasn't worked, being its throttled on the network side and not the phone, im assuming its not going to.....:(

So far, it looks like it only affects 4g traffic, 3g is still throttled on my phone (after a recent flash 4g was sluggish until I did the steps here)

Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

I have noticed I don't get throttled unless I'm on 3g a lot. And yea there is no way to fully disable the throttle but this does seem to delay it quite a bit

I noticed 4g data that I use isn't applied toward my boost monthly data usage. I once downloaded 1.5gigs worth of tv shows using 4g and it never got added for that month or the following months. Right now data usage on my S2 says 1gig but data usage only says 400mb on my boost account. It's been this ways ever since I got this phone. Currently running rooted sprint jb rom. No other mods.

it worked for me...
ive noticed double the speeds on 3g and 4g

Placebo. This will not speed you up. Only if you have been throttled and somehow managed to stop the throttling your speeds would just be normal.

I have been throttled using this before.

These changes do not remove the 2.5 gig throttle that is imposed by Boost as that is done on their side. It is very easy to do, just like I can limit a data transfer speed to anything connected to my router with a simple setting change that is linked to the device's MAC address. They do however remove the choke points which slow down the data connections that the Stock phone has. You do see improvements.

What is the point of clearing dalvik cache after youve changed the folders permissions and deleted what was in the THROTTLE folder?

Should it be done in recovery?

You can just delete with any root explorer or in recovery, either one.....;)

I keep trying to tell people you can't change that they know how much data they are sending out and to who lol. Also there are people having network issues after deleting this, and when restored the issues go away.

The ones that are having issues, usually have dome something else wrong while doing it. There are custom ROMs out there that this has been done to aswell, and they work fine.

Hope I'm not too off topic... But what is the point of wiping dalvik cache after deleting throttle files and setting the folder to read and execute? What does that do exactly?

Setting the folder to read and execute only prevents the system from from putting files back in there. Clearing this cache clears dependencies stored and makes the phone rebuild a new tree. and is a good thing to do if you have removed a file that has these.

Dalvik-cache
When your phone starts up, the Dalvik Virtual Machine looks at all your apps and frameworks, and creates a tree of dependencies which is stored in the dalvik-cache. This allows applications to run in an optimised state (and explains why your phone takes longer to boot up after applying a new rom, it

What exactly can you do that would screw this up? I mean really... You are straight up deleting files. It doesn't matter if there are perms on the folder if there is nothing in it.

Am I wrong? Because if something else was screwed up restoring the files isn't going to fix other errors yet network issues are going away.

Not trying to be pedantic, just clear and concise.

Right. So I am asking why are people's network issues being resolved after restoring the files into the folder if they are a result of other factors outside of the issue of this folder? There was a bunch of people having the same network issues on a warp rom, and they all did the same thing and restored the files and everybody's issue was resolved, so this wasn't random user errors, but rather an empirical experiment with results collected and solution applied with the same results across the board for a group of people.

And permissions shouldn't have a negative effect, but rather be benign if they aren't turned off for write- ie if it can write to the folder with nothing in it and replace the old files, than what difference does it make? It would just be in the same state as before or nothing would happen (they would just get throttled either way). ie they don't matter in this instance.

I'm dropping it, but this explanation of user error doesn't add up.

All I'm saying is you may or may not have issues by deleting this. It's happened.
