Root [GUIDE] How to root T-Mobile 6.0 update

I don't think my phone is being detected in ADB

When i went into the directory where my ADB is installed (C:\adb) i opened up a command prompt window in there. I typed in "adb devices" and i end up getting this

I even tried to revoke the USB Debugging authorizations. Still didnt work. Someone please help

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers for the stylo

I tried it twice, and it's still showing the same thing. I'm running Windows 10 if that helps

Nevermind. I got it now. All i had to do was change the USB type to PTP. Thanks for the help though

ok...finally got twrp again....
i managed to not throw my phone in the toilet ...
doing a back up that i hope it'll see when i run into walls i created...
and finally on my way to being where i was...before i messed with the sound...
and i release you
 
so i've browsed through this forum and a few others to no avail, afaik virgin mobile doesnt have fastboot capabilities, something i wish i had known when i started this whole process... is there a way to enable fastboot or specially load something on to allow that? or am i stuck without any sort of fastboot and as a result any sort of root
 
Anyone here tried using LG Backup to back everything up before unlocking bootloader? I'm currently installing my backup, cause i ran a backup with LG Backup before hand, hope all goes well, I'll share how it goes afterwards for the few people who haven't already rooted
 
UPDATE: all went well, i seem to have all apps back, i rooted after that, and installed TWRP to make a legitimate backup

The CPU gets hotter faster on 6.0 idk if my phone or not but nothing seems the help. Which makes my phone on 6.0 lag alot. So I will stick with 5.1.1
 
when I was checking out my project phone, it started lagging on day 2. i found an app called PAroot kept trying to do stuff to supersu. it made the 6.o.v20 roms get hot and ate up battery life. I found it trying to run su acess and a process. I froze it and 6.0 was alot better. this happened on other 6.0 roms as well including metr/tmo mixed ones too.

Funny but my edc stylo is 5.1.10j and its as cool as a cucumber and the battery is great on versions 10c,d,e,i,j.
 
You can just restore one of your old saved lollypop recoverys and do it till you get it right. Its the same twrp unless you got v10d Under the battery .
 
You get your phone running on stock 6.0 marshmellow then tell me your carrier, and your phone version number under your battery and i can help you root your phone. I can not help you if you use king root.

How did you uninstall adb and fastboot? Im on windows 10 and i have the same issues that you had. As soon as I run adb reboot bootloader to the splash screen i cant do anything. The device manager shows a generic android device with a yellow sign while in fastboot so i know its the drivers. I downloaded the drivers in the link that was given to you (could you verify which driver you installed from the link) and have already revoked debugging and uninstalled all drivers. I simply deleted the adb folder as i used the 15 sec. adb and fastboot install but i doubt thats it. Could you lend a hand? I would be very greatful.

@collisionfactor , try uninstalling adb and fastboot under control panel on win 10. If adb and fastboot arent listed under the control panel, the adb folder should be located @ C://adb. If its not there look in C://programfiles. Delete the adb and fastboot folder wherever they may be and try reinstalling the programs. Make sure when you install adb it is located @ C://adb. Since Im going off sheer memory, I hope I was able to help.
 
@Jack Mickey @TMacgnolia...I followed the steps jack posted on how he was able to get past fastboot devices and for some reason I cannot get past that point. I uninstalled drivers, adb and fastboot, revoked debugging authorizations. Then installed latest drivers from LG (4.1.1) installed adb and fastboot, enabled debugging, allowed RSA toast and went for it again with nothing. I even went to the extent of deleting the .android file with the adb key prior to reinstalling. Seems like my phone freezes up when entering fastboot because i cant even power down with the power button and have to do a battery pull.

Did you install the drivers from here?

Make sure you do not download the Verizon drivers.
 
Yes I did and no i did not download the verizon drivers. So once the phone boots into fastboot the PC no longer recognizes the phone as an LG, just an Android. I am getting ready to install the google drivers and will try again. If that doesnt work I am going to install android studio and give that a go.
 
This is the only thread i have been able to get feedback from and that is greatly appreciated. The threads on XDA seem to be dead as I havent gotten any replies.
