Root [Guide] How to root the Wildfire S with S-ON

Sorry for being late--been really busy lately. Make sure you update your recovery so it works. Per my guide, I suggest you flash ClockworkMod recovery. You definitely don't want to mess around too much with a rooted phone that has a broken recovery!

The WFS Manager flashed the clockworkmod recovery , and I was able to run the root.zip file.

But now tell me the way to update my clockwordmod , as whenever I open Rom Manager , it pops a window telling me that an update is available for clockworkmod recovery. How to do that?

And a few more questions.

1.What is the difference between the apps rom manager and rom manager premium?
2.Tell me any good rom which has sense 3.5 , but does not have bugs.I install Jxmatteo's rom but it rebooted my phone again and again

hey mmaslam,

Can't tell you how to update your recovery. I'm not sure how to. I think it's possible on rom manager
1. If I'm not wrong, rom manager premium allows you to download a lot more of rom variaties than the free version
2. I don't know any good sense rom right now. I used one which kept on re booting for me but apprarently works fine for Cafekampuchia. Maybe you can check it out

***unlocked***
marvel
s-on
hboot-1.09.0099

using supertoolv3 with option 1 and option 2 eventhough it shows tat its rooted, but the busybox and superuser were being denied just like wat happened to moustafaatchy who commented in this thread..

superuser isnt working and i tried installing busybox installer which claim that there is no root access..

when i tried to go into recovery it got stuck with the red triangle

and how do i flash the clockworkmodrecovery in step 5B??

help please???:confused::(:confused:

I followed each instruction on the guide for my metroPCS (USA) HTC Wildfire S. I got the ***unlocked*** after doing the HTCdev step, and I got the flashing "Rooted" after using the supertool. I installed the superuser app and clockworkmod, but when I try to use clockworkmod, it tells me "You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su". Etc." I've rebooted my phone several times. What am I missing?

You should try downloading the WFS manager. It has work for some that have the same problem as you guys

I managed installing clockwork recovery with the same manager...Maybe it will work for you too. But it looks like your phone is not rooted so I suggest you try rooting it with the WFS manager as well before you install recovery

I successfully unlocked the bootloader, i run the super tool, it says "rooted", but my phone isn't. I can see that because after i installed superuser, i checked if my phone is rooted with 2 apps, and it isn't.
Note that i am positive that it is an unlocked bootloader.
Maybe i do something wrong in the super tool. I checked both with "1" and "3" and with "2" and "3". In neither does the phone reboot when i type it, or becomes rooted

Install superuser app from the market. If it gets root excess you are good to go, it means you are rooted but if it doesn't get root excess. Then try using the wfs manager to flash clockwork mod recovery and from there run root.zip.
And you have rooted your phone

Sorry for disturbing but I completely don't understand
>fasboot flash recovery [image name.img]

How will I do this??

Thanks in advance

Thanks. I tried that several times and it didn't work either. :( Maybe I just need a different phone to root.

I'm assuming that you've downloaded the 5.0.2.8 recovery per the link in the guide. Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to the folder where you downloaded recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvel.img. Type the following at the prompt:

fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvel.img

It also rebooted for me.......
So i am using jxmatteo sense 3.5 rom
These ROMs use overclocked kernel and your phone can't handle the full 806 mhz. I don't know what kernel jxmatteo is using, but if you are running m1ndh4x8r's EQDKP Sense 3.5 then you can flash this script to keep it from overclocking at boot. That should stop the reboots.

I used one which kept on re booting for me but apprarently works fine for Cafekampuchia. Maybe you can check it out

Actually, no. That's why I know the trick above! :D

Basically you need to flash the script Cafe is giving you. And afterwards use the app CPU frills and it should work fine.
I think I tried that too and it didn't work for me

I probably didn't do it properly :p I wouldnt be suprised if I wasn't able to do it right. Hehehe.
I don't really know what difference is between the 2. I read it somewhere but didn't really understand
