Root [GUIDE] How to Run an RUU for your HTC One S

Edit: Post with links

Bringing this thread back to life....

I have consistently wanted to achieve s-off, but I've always run into issues. Now, I seem to need it more than ever, so here are my details...

My phone is from Wind, small company of Globalive, and their RUU is

/OTA_Ville_U_JB_45_S_Globalive_WWE_3.16.1500.7_1.11.50.05.28_10.27.50.08L_release_3049068z393w1fez9cc9lt.zip

However, during my time on stock, I had updated to JB. I now have hboot 2.15 and radio 1.11. From what I know, this makes facepalm impossible, meaning moonshine is my only choice.

However, the closest thing moonshine supports to my carrier is telus

Their RUU is here

/OTA_Ville_U_JB_45_S_TELUS_WWE_3.16.661.4_1.13.50.05.31_10.30.50.08L_release_307532nohrvy5j6i2o2i8i.zip

Is there any way I can change to that RUU or achieve s-off? My drivers are starting to have issues, so I'm really hoping I can get s-off and not be dependent on my laptop. Thanks guys!

***I'm an xda user, so sorry about me not being able to link***

If you are able to unlock your device and install a rooted stockish rom with an insecure kernel, try rumrunner:
http://rumrunner.us/

They have "universal" tools that are not dpendent on your software build.

Alternately,I've read of folks having success with moonshine simply by installing a stock rom(or restoring a stock nandroid) of one of the supported builds.

Either way,I'd strongly recomend to run the tools from linux. You're much more likely to have success the first time. :)

Hi, I'm now preparing to root my HTC one s c2, HTC_044, and I'm very clear on how to do it and s off. But the problem right now is, how to unroot it back? I've searched on the net and there's no proper ruu which suits mine (HTC Asia wwe) its still ICS version, while my stock htc one s is already JB with higher hboot.

I know you can flash ruu from other region after I s off. But, if I really use ruu from, let's say Europe, does it mean I can use ota update to the latest and its from my region as well after that?

Sorry for the bad English, hope you guys understand.

I have T-Mobile HTC ONE S in USA I PUT CYANOGEN on it and worked great but I need to put the factory/stock ROM back. I didn't back up the original like a dumb ass. Any walkthroughs or tips would be great along with what version and where to get it. Thanks in advance.

What will? I'm on my mobile and if you put link I don't see it. Also I didn't forget it was my first time modding phone.. I'm a bonehead for not backing it up Lol.

Quick question. My girlfriend has the same exact phone as me. Any way I can copy her phones info and put it on mine. Keep in mind her phone isn't rooted in any way. It has the factory software.

Just make a backup and save to computer and put on your device make sure u do a unroot on her device .she may not care for it to be rooted. And keep a copy of the backup on your PC if u have another problem

Nope like I said the device is rooted And running cm stable ROM with S-on . I just want to know if this would brick my device. Also what is best app for backing up toy PC? Titanium?
