Root [GUIDE] Root Methods and Related Triumph Info

I would remove RootExplorer. Its not a free app, and it's not nice to distribute it for free. The developers have worked hard on that app, and it shouldn't be provided free of charge without their consent. I'm sure this is against androidforums policy!

Sorry everyone. I have been on vacation with my kids. I just updated my page and added a few more things. Hope everyone had a good Halloween.

hey, so i just got my Virgin Mobile Triumph, i do all the steps above and my phone will recognize the service and will be ready to talk?

So for some reason, my phone seems to have bricked or something. It was working fine two days ago. I got the letter in the mail about how Virgin Mobile paid my $25 charge to keep me as a customer. So I turned on the phone and everything worked fine. Then on Thanksgiving Day, I turned on the phone and used it as a spare because I was streaming Netflix off the Evo on the Big Screen. On the Triumph, the 3G wasn't working but it made calls fine. So I figured I better reset the darn phone. After doing that, the Triumph boots up all the way to where it shouts out "Virgin Mobile" and stalls on that screen for maybe 15 seconds. Then the "Virgin Mobile" words disappear and I'm left with just be backlight on and no backlight buttons.

I have tried the above mention about turning on the Poll Mode and download both Image Folders and replaced the files with each of the two sets. Still no go. With the first Image set that I installed, the phone would turn on and go to Poll Mode and then quickly turn off and show the red Moto sign and the usually "Virgin Mobile" shout and get stuck with just a backlight. The Second Image set skips the Poll Mode, but still does the same as before and leaves me with just a backlight.

The Triumph is rooted with Gingerbreak and that's it. There's nothing else on it because I keep it to watch youtube on the Big Screen.

Any help would be great.

Doesn't sound like it's bricked, just sounds like it's stuck in a boot loop. Try booting into cwm and restoring. If that doesn't work let me know and I will find the solution for you.

I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to Isaac, moderators, developers, and everyone else at the Android forums. I Hope everyone has a great holiday and a happy new year.

For any one wanting to learn java programming or android app development.. I just emailed Bucky from thenewboston.org asking permission to use his videos on my thread. So keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully this will help in finding more dev's out there to step up and take on some more android developing on ICS and other future android OS's. so stay tuned.

EDIT: Moderators, is there any way I can get a reserved post spot under my top post..? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for taking the time to pull together all these resources. One will be hard pressed to brick la triumph but good to have the partitions I suppose I could mess up if my boy distracted me while in the image files as I've always been careful of that. This article is awesome thanks. :)

No problem. I actually had bricked my triumph when I first got it, then when I found the partition files and replaced them the first time, I lost my download mode letters and splash screen for about a month. Then TheGeekRedneck said that there were two different sets of files, the ones from an older model triumph, and the others from the newer model. He then found the newer model partition files from davidx385 and I tried placing them in my partition overwriting the old ones, and the download mode and splash screen reappeared.

How did you flash them if it was bricked? just curious...

There was no flashing involved. It was a soft brick. It wouldn't go into download mode with the normal (volume down + power) so I had to pull the battery first, then hold the (vd + power), then replace the battery. that's when the blank screen came up. I plugged it into my computer and viola!!!! the image folder came up so I instantly replaced it with the stock files and it was fixed. I really don't think you can fully brick this phone, but I call it that for all the noobs because that's what they think happened if they can't get back to cwm or get their phone to boot.

The Devs working on ICS are moving along very quickly so when I get to my next hotel I will post the thread until the beta version is out.

UPDATED!!
