Root Guide to Installing Kernals

There are some excellent how-to's for both rooting and installing new ROMs but I haven't found a clear guide to installing kernals. I've looked here, on xda, and a few other sites and haven't found a useful guide. Can anyone recommend one?

all you have to do it flash it while in clockwork like you do a rom

I recommend getting ROM Manager from the Market. Makes it SO easy.
