Guide to Jelly Bean Notification Bat icons

I have searched for this (even on developer.android.com) and I can't seem to find a simple answer.

I am hoping there is a guide out there for all the possible notification icons that can appear at the top on the notification bar in Jelly Bean 4.1.1.

While 90% are incredibly simple to understand (i.e. the battery indicator, or the battery indicator with the charge simple) there are a few that pop up occasionally that I don't get immediately.

For example, sometimes my wifi indicator is grey, but I still have a working wifi connection. Usually, it is blue to indicate that it is working. And so on...

Thanks!

Thanks! This kind of guide (Android Status bar Symbols and Notification icons)is exactly what I had in mind.

It seems like 90% have not changed (i.e. gmail, download complete, missed call, etc.) However, there seem to be a few changes in Jelly Bean. It's the system notifications to the right that have changed the most and are of most interest to me.

For example:

In these examples, the indicator on the left is my wifi connection. This is the one that seems greyed out on occasion, but seems to still work regardless of color. In the examples posted, the line in the middle I BELIEVE means there is a data transfer both up and down occurring. As I have seen both just the top half of that icon in the middle and the bottom half as stand alones.

I don't have many issues connected to not knowing what these icons mean. It would just be nice to know.

On mine, if its gray then my signal isn't that strong. The stronger the signal, the more bars fill up with colors (for both WiFi and HSPA+).

As a test I went into my phones settings, Accounts, tapped on Google, tapped on the sync icon, tapped on Menu, tapped on Sync now. This made no difference in colors. The only thing I saw was the itty bitty arrows appear in blue to let me know it's actively syncing.

If you remember back with Gingerbread everything was green. Google had incorporated (the name of it's on the tip of my tongue, and damned if it will come to me) the ability for the network/wifi icons to change from gray to green when Google was syncing. I "think" we lost that with ICS, and as far as I am aware it was never added to JB either.

If i'm not mistaken when the Wifi is grey it means it isn't connected to Google's servers.

From the Android 3.0 help pages, I found this, "Network status icons turn blue if you have a Google Account added to your tablet and the tablet is connected to Google services, for syncing your Gmail, Calendar events, contacts, for backing up your settings, and so on. If you don

Grey may mean if it is connected to google or not, but to me it is my indicator for if I am connected to the internet or not.

Grey usually means my phone picked up my campus wifi, but requires me to sign in.

Grey cell bars mean that I have cell reception but the data connection is resetting or still booting.
