Root [GUIDE] Unbrick ANY Soft Bricked Optimus V with Official FW and KP500

This can also be used if you wanted to downgrade/upgrade/return to stock.

Install Drivers: look here

Install this program:
LG Mobile Support Tool
Then open the program, let it load, close it.

Download KP500 Tools:
KP500 Utility

Download this ZV5 cab containing VM670ZV5 FW that I fixed to work with KP500 Tool:
ZV5.cab

Extract KP500 to the root of your hard drive, meaning extract everything to C:\KP500-Utils-En
Move ZV5.cab to C:\KP500-Utils-EN

Step 1: Download/Install everything above

Step 2: Put the phone in emergency mode:
-Turn phone off, unplug USB, remove battery, reinsert battery.
-Press Volume Down+Back Key+Plug in USB to computer.
Note: Connect USB cable directly into USB port, don't use a USB HUB/splitter!

Step 3 (Vista, Windows 7 users only, skip if running Windows XP): Right click KP500-Utils-EN.exe located in C:\KP500-Utils-EN folder, Click "Properties", click "Compatibility" tab, Checkmark "Run as this program as an Administrator", Press Ok.

Step 4: Open C:\ and hold shift while right-clicking KP500-Utils-EN folder and press "Open command window here"

Step 5: Copy and paste these commands (press enter after pasting each command):

C:\KP500-Utils-EN\ZV5.cab
ZV5
If it says to Restart with a pop-up window, unplug USB cable, plug back in, Click Restart.
If it says to Restart without a pop-up window, unplug USB, pull battery, plug in USB, Click Restart.

If it flashes and reaches 99% and fails/stops, check the phone;
1. If it's in recovery, press wipe data (factory reset)>reboot
2. If it is in charge only mode, press power button until it turns on.
3. If it's in the phone, you're done :D :cheers:

Thanks to Phatninja55 for doing absolutly nothing, and then asking for credit. Just kidding, he helped give me some ideas to get this FW flashing :p

Why does LG release borked FW and not able to fix it, but me, a 17 year old is able to?? :p smh LG.

So if you did the zv9 update, this will still give the ability to return to stock zv5? If I ever sell my phone this might be really useful in order to get everything back to stock.

Step 3 edited because VM670.dll doesn't register using the new way...

I just went through the whole guide on how to unbrick an optimus v and everything went well until now...My phone is functional but the 3g is no longer working..Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I can text and call people and the wifi works but the 3g icon is not even in the toolbar at the top of the screen. Please HELP!!
 
Well after alot of hard work and was nearing having my phone back up and runing Vm instead of giving me the info i needed to bring it back on the network decided to send me a new phone instead. Either way the story has a happy ending lol.

Did you follow all guides? There's more than just this unbrick guide.
 
well... i think he probably posted the link i left in the prl update thread. it was just a link to the mdn/min/meid guide. can you open qpst have it read and post a screenshot of whats under the m.ip tab
